Replicate share positions using minifutures

ETP Link can assist you in your trading and lets you benefit from the advantages of trading minifutures in an easy way. You can trade your favorite  shares as usual, except you trade them on a virtual account within Autotrader - ETP Link then replicates the positions directly to each shares associated minifutures. You can download ETP Link via Help > Uppdate ETP Link

Begin by creating a virtual account as described in this part of the manual >

Trade "baskets" using ETP Link
TIPS! You can associate several instruments to a common underlying asset and as a result trigger orders simultaniously. Enter the same ETP ID for all the associated instruments.

Let ETP Link select the closest minifuture to your preferred price automatically
In order to simplify trading minifutures relatively close to the stoploss level, we have equipped ETP Link with Autoselect - an option to scan checked in minifutures and find the one closest to your preferred price. This helps reducing the risk of getting stopped out, plus any sold out minifutures are automatically disgarded. Autoselect is described in detail further down this page.

Associate ETP with a share on a virtual account

  • Select Start > List window > the stock list you want to use
  • Select virtual account you want to trade using the menu bar
  • Click ENTER on the share (f ex ABB), select the tab Indata script
  • Enter a uniqe ID in the field ETP Link - this can be any number between 10 and 799 not already used for another share
  • Open an instrument list for the minifutures you have listed
  • Click ENTER on the corresponding minifuture (f ex ABB) and select the tab Indata script
  • Enter the same ID for the minilong and minishrt corresponding to the ABB share
  • ABB and its associated minifutures are now linked together
  • Continue with other shares minifutures and assign them unique IDs. It might be a good idea to note what IDs every underlying asset is given.
  • If you want to link ABB to different ETPs for different accounts you can do this by simply changing to the new account and change the ID.
OBS! The first time you enter an ID in the field ETP ID it will show on all accounts. You can change the ID by first switching to another account in the menu bar, then change the ID.

Connect the order models

Select fixed or percentual investment amount

ETP Link supports fixed or percentual investment amounts

If you prefer to let ETP link trade at a fixed amount or a percentual value of the account instead of replicating a virtual position strictly, you can select the amount desired according to:

  • Mark the instrument in an instrument list or chart
  • Click ENTER and select the tab Indata script
  • In the field Standardmodell insats you can enter a fixed amount, f ex 20000 corresponding to 20000 kronor (or the instrument currency). Alternatively, enter a percentage using minus in front, f ex -20 corresponding to 20% of the account value incl open positions.
  • ETP Link will now only sense if the virtual position is positive or negative to determine what position to take in the associated ETPs.

This simplifies using ETPs together with your own order models.

Configure Autoselect-functionality to enable ETP Link to select minifutures automatically

ETP Link supports autoselecting the minifuture closest to the desired price

You can let ETP Link determine what minifutures is closest to your wanted price automatically:

  • Add a few minifutures to your underlying asset using different price levels around your desired price
Example: OMXS30 as the underlying asset and minifutures costing:
    a) Minilong OMX A 40 kr
    b) Minilong OMX B 60 kr
    c) Minilong OMX C 80 kr
    d) Minilong OMX D 100 kr
  • Click ENTER on the OMXS30 chart (or whatever asset you have selected)
  • I the field ETP Pref price underneath the tab Indata script you enter your preferred price for your associeted minifutures, f ex 75
  • Click ENTER on each associated minifuture you want to include in the Autoselect function, select the tab Indata script and enter the value 1 in the field ETP Check In
  • This sets the minifuturers as "checked in" in Autoselect and part of the selection ETP Link does each new hour.

Each new hour ETP Link will scan through the checked in minifutures and find the one closest to your preferred price. If the prices have moved since the last scan and a new minifuture comes closer to your entered price, any open position in the old minifuture will be closed immediately and re-opened in the new minifuture. In case a minifutures is "sold out" it will automatically be disqualified as a candidate in the next scan and replaced with the closest one with both a bid- and ask price.

Things to consider when using Autoselect:

  • Avoid checking in minifutures with too tight price intervals as this will cause frequent and unnecessary position changes.
  • To far a distance between prices increases the risk of a minifuture ending up stopped out before a new candidate has been found.
  • First time you condigure Autoselect no scan has been done, and consequently no candidate is selected. A buy will be made the next hour as a scan has been performed.
  • To exclude a minifuture from Autoselect, simply enter 0 in the field ETP Check In in Indata script.
  • The entered preferred price applies to both Long- and Short-minifutures.
  • Observe that Autoselect is not account unique, it applies to the underlying asset regardless of account.
